Tennessee grants to William Sergant & Thomas H. Butler 279 and 1/4 acres 13 July 1849 lying:
. . . in Jackson County on the waters of the dry fork of Mill Creek in district No. 8 Beginning at a Sugar tree with two beeches and hickory pointers on the west side of a hill the south west corner of a 200 acre survey in the names of David Rose, and in the east boundary line of 150 acre survey in the same of said Rose and running S outh with said East boundary line 46 poles to two Chestnut Oaks the southeast corner of said 150 acres Thence west with the south boundary line of said 150 acres 60 poles to a Sugar tree on the east boundary line of a 200 acre survey in the name of William Sergant = Thence with said line South crossing a branch at 62 poles in all 82 poles to a Stake the south east corner of said 200 acres = Thence on West with the South boundary East of the same 68 poles to a Stake in the east boundary line of a 200 acre Survey in the name of James Tinsley's Thence South with said east boundary line passing Tinsley's south east corner, in all 252 poles to a Stake = thence East 158 poles to a Spanish Oak the south west corner of a 400 acre survey in the name of John Rose. Then North with the west boundary line of the same 380 poles to Red Oak and dogwood the north west corner of said 400 acre survey and in the south boundary line of the said 200 acres in the name of David Rose. Thence with said south boundary West 20 poles to the Beginning.Survey 3 July 1849
